About Artist
"Life is filled with abstractions, and the only way to make heads or tails of it is going through intuition." - David Lynch
Addison is a multidisciplinary artist located in Peoria, Illinois. Born in 2001 to Joeley and Heath, she veered from the medical fields her parents practice. In her youth, she began to explore two-dimensional art forms, including painting, drawing, charcoal, and collage. She received her high school diploma from Peoria Notre Dame, where she learned ceramics and sculpture. Upon graduating, Addison was awarded the Maggie Burtrum Foundation Award and the Peoria Notre Dame Artist Award in 2020.
She applied to the Illinois State University Wonsook Kim School of Art during the COVID-19 Pandemic, where she was awarded a scholarship into the program. During her time at ISU, she studied painting, sculpture, intaglio, and ceramics. In her free time, she studied woodworking, fabrication, and digital media. As a multidisciplinary explorer, she wanted to prioritize the joy of the creative process rather than the simple achievement of a final piece. In her junior year of college, Addison took a Glass 1 course, learning the fundamentals of glassblowing. It was then that everything fell into place for her. The process of art making in glass was the missing element Addison had been looking for. She graduated from Illinois State University in 2025 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Studio Arts, Glass, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Studio Arts, Painting.
Addison is currently a glassblowing instructor at J. Draper Glass in Peoria, Illinois. She educates students about the art form while helping them create their very own glass art. Her 2-D work is currently displayed in the Peoria City Hall Exhibition (2025). To start the new year, Addison will be showcasing her Folds and Fractures solo exhibition at Illinois Central College. She utilizes a vast array of glass techniques to illuminate the complexities of the human condition, in both its fragility and resilience. She hopes to further her education and receive a master's degree in the future as she continues to create and educate.
